Fascinator Queen FAQs

What size waterproof throw fits a queen bed?

The Fascinator Queen is 72" × 54" and covers the surface of a queen bed. The Fascinator King is 80" × 76" — large enough to drape over the sides of a queen, or cover a king. Full range: Queen 72" × 54" · King 80" × 76" · Small 53" × 36" · Mini 36" × 26".

How much liquid can a waterproof throw hold?

It absorbs up to a point, then acts as a barrier. The plush top soaks up liquid at first; past a certain volume, liquid sits on the surface instead of soaking in. Either way, the moisture-proof lining underneath keeps liquids from reaching your mattress. For more surface, the Fascinator King spans a king-size bed.

Can you hear the waterproof liner in this throw?

No. Unlike plastic-backed waterproof covers, the Fascinator Queen stays soft, quiet, and comfortable, without the stiff or crinkly feel.

Is this waterproof throw machine washable?

Yes — wash cold, tumble dry low. The sewn-in waterproof barrier makes it heavier when wet than an ordinary throw, so wash it on its own to avoid unbalancing a smaller machine.

Will lube damage a waterproof throw?

No. Water-based and silicone lubricants both wash out, and neither degrades the waterproof barrier. Massage oils are fine too. Care is the same either way: cold wash, low heat.

What is the difference between a waterproof throw and a mattress protector?

A mattress protector is a fitted layer that stays under your sheets. A waterproof throw goes on top of the bed or over furniture, feels soft against the skin, and comes off for the wash when you are finished. The Fascinator Queen pairs a velvety top with a moisture-proof lining, so it protects like a barrier and looks like a blanket.

Which side of the waterproof throw goes up?

Either. One face is soft microvelvet, the other is smoother and slicker. Most people put the velvet against skin and the slick side down against the sheets — it is preference, not a rule, and reviewers are genuinely split on it.

Can you use a waterproof throw on furniture or the floor?

Yes. The waterproof barrier runs the full size of the throw, so it protects sofas, armchairs, benches, carpet or hard floors just as well as a bed.

Can you use a waterproof throw with a Wedge or Ramp?

Yes. The Fascinator is a loose throw rather than a fitted cover, so it drapes over a Wedge or Ramp as easily as it lies flat on the bed. Lay it over the shape to keep the waterproof surface against skin, or underneath it if you would rather protect the mattress.

Is a waterproof throw discreet?

It looks like a velvet throw, so it can stay folded at the end of the bed between uses. It also keeps oils and lubricants off your sheets, so nothing lingers on your bedding afterwards.

Why choose a waterproof throw over towels?

Towels bunch, slide, and soak through. A waterproof throw stays where you put it, and its moisture-proof lining keeps liquids from reaching your mattress. It is also soft enough that you will actually want it on the bed.
